Question by Manny R: How do I remove the chuck from a DeWalt Corless Drill?
I have a keyless chuck Dewalt drill DW954, I need to remove the chuck. I already removed the one little screw inside and those little 3 prongs that hold the bits fell out. So now what? Please help.
I am not able to stick an allen wrench in it cause the jaws are no longer there to grip the allen so the chuck just spin freely and I can not just put a pipe wrench there either for the same reason.

The prongs are not supose to come off, after you take the screw out the chuck pulls right off.

I believe that u need a ALLEN wrench to loosen the chuck.
I replaced mine a while back but I’m sure after i took the scew it was also threaded on there.
Left hand threads.
I’m holding the old chuck from my Dewalt 18V drill right now. As you have done, you first remove the center screw. Mine was a Torx. Then, the easiest thing to do is to chuck the small end of a large Allen wrench, and whack the end of the Allen wrench to break the chuck free. The chuck has a 1/2″-13 left hand threaded hole, so you’ll have to smack it opposite from the normal way to loosen.
You say the jaws of your chuck fell out? That’s a new one on me. I don’t think I could get the jaws out of my chuck if I tried. If you’re removing the chuck for replacement, I’d just put a pipe wrench on the chuck to get it off.
